LPAC December 2023 Endorsements

Washington D.C. (December 20, 2023) –  LPAC, the only organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ women and nonbinary people to local, state, and federal office, is excited to announce our endorsement of 10 more trailblazing LGBTQ women and nonbinary candidates running in the 2024 cycle!

Lisa Grafstein (she/her), North Carolina State Senate (District 13)

  • Sen. Lisa Grafstein is a Democrat running for a second term in the North Carolina State Senate. Grafstein was targeted by Republicans during redistricting: while her old district was solidly Democratic, her new district is a competitive D+1 frontline defense seat for the Senate Democratic Caucus.

Emma Mulvaney-Stanak (she/her), Mayor of Burlington, VT

  • Vermont State Rep. Emma Mulvaney-Stanak is a Progressive running to become the first out LGBTQ and first woman Mayor of Burlington. Mulvaney-Stanak is a mother, legislator, organizer, and small business owner who currently serves as Caucus Leader of the House Progressive Caucus.

Erica Deuso (she/they), Pennsylvania House of Representatives (District 155)

  • Erica Deuso is a Democrat running for a Philadelphia-area seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Deuso is a scientist, businesswoman, and advocate. If elected, she would be the first out trans person elected to the Pennsylvania legislature.

Sade Elhawary (she/her), California State Assembly (District 57)

  • Sade Elhawary is a youth organizer and policy advocate running for a solidly Democratic LA-area seat in the California State Assembly. The daughter of immigrants and the first in her family to go to college, Elhawary is a fierce advocate for housing, healthcare, and education.

Rosanna Herber (she/her), California State Assembly (District 6)

  • Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) Board Member Rosanna Herber is running for a solidly Democratic Sacramento-area seat in the California State Assembly. Herber is the highest-ranking out LGBTQ elected official in the Sacramento region and the first out LGBTQ member to serve on the SMUD board.

Mo Jenkins (she/they), Texas House of Representatives (District 139)

  • Mo Jenkins is a Democrat running for a Houston-area seat in the Texas House of Representatives. Jenkins is currently the only out trans woman serving in a senior staff role in the Texas legislature and, if elected, would be the first out trans person elected to the Texas State Legislature.

Sasha Renée Pérez (she/her), California State Senate (District 25)

  • Alhambra City Council Member Sasha Renée Pérez is a Democrat running for the California State Senate. Throughout her career in state policy work, Pérez has advocated for equitable policies in higher education and has led coalitions to improve college access, success, and affordability.

Marisol Rubio (she/her), California State Senate (District 9)

  • San Ramon City Council Member Marisol Rubio is a Democrat running for an East Bay-area seat in the California State Senate. In addition to serving on the San Ramon City Council, Rubio is a home health care provider and neurobiologist.

Dulce Vasquez (she/her), California State Assembly (District 57)

  • Dulce Vasquez is running for a solidly Democratic LA-area seat in the California State Assembly. She ran a strong campaign for Los Angeles City Council in 2020, frustrated by how the city and state were handling the pandemic and by the fact that mixed immigration status families were ineligible for stimulus checks. Vasquez is focused on housing, education, and mental health.

Monica Martinez (she/her), Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors, CA (District 5)

  • Monica Martinez currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Santa Cruz County’s largest health and human services nonprofit, dedicated to providing behavioral health, housing, and early childhood development support to the community. If elected, she would be the first out LGBTQ supervisor elected in Santa Cruz County.
