Vernetta Alston

Vernetta Alston is a Democrat running for a third term in the North Carolina House of Representatives.

Alston is a North Carolina native and practiced criminal law for several years. In 2017, she was elected to the Durham City Council, where she served for two years before being appointed to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2020. Alston and her wife are raising their two children in southwestern Durham County.

Alston is focused on promoting clean energy and carbon neutrality in North Carolina, providing greater access to affordable housing, and improving workers’ rights in the state.
