Giona Picheco

Giona Picheco is a Democrat running for election to the Rhode Island House of Representatives in District 14. She would be one of the first openly transgender state legislators in Rhode Island.

Picheco served in the U.S. Navy for a number of years, and is working towards a degree at the University of Rhode Island. She works as an engineering technician. She is active in LGBTQ and progressive groups in Cranston, RI.

Her priorities are increasing the availability of affordable housing, investing in educational services and infrastructure, and improving the quality of healthcare for seniors and veterans. She has been endorsed by the Rhode Island Working Families Party.
