Aime Wichtendahl

 

 

In 2015, Wichtendahl made history as the first trans elected official in Iowa. Now she is running for the Iowa House of Representatives.

Aime Wichtendahl is a member of the Hiawatha City Council and was the first openly trans woman to be elected to government in the state of Iowa. In 2015, she ran for the Hiawatha City Council on a platform of supporting small businesses and received the most votes of any candidate in the race.

Outside of politics, Wichtendahl is a proud parent of her son, Steven, a member of the American Federation of Musicians local 137, and an author.
