Washington, DC (September 26, 2019) — LPAC, the only organization devoted to building the political power of LGBTQ women, is endorsing Tracy Mitrano for US House of Representatives (NY-23).

“Tracy Mitrano has the expertise to be a great leader for New York’s 23rd District,” said LPAC Executive Director Stephanie Sandberg. “We are excited to endorse her candidacy.”

Mitrano is a lifelong New Yorker, a lawyer, and holds a PhD in American History. An expert in cybersecurity – she spent 13 years as director of information technology policy at Cornell – Mitrano, an openly LGBTQ woman, is running on a platform focused on protecting and expanding access to affordable healthcare, addressing the student debt crisis, and securing the health of the district’s lakes and rivers for future generations.

She is running in the 2020 election to unseat five-term incumbent Tom Reed. LPAC endorsed her first run against him in 2018. Now, along with Gina Ortiz Jones, Mitrano is our second “comeback kid” endorsement for the House next year.

“They’ve built the name recognition and support bases, and now it’s time to watch these excellent candidates soar to new heights,” Sandberg said.
