LPAC Statement on 2022 Q1 Campaign Finance Report

Washington D.C., (April 18, 2022) – LPAC, the national political organization dedicated to electing more LGBTQ women to public office, has filed its 2022 Q1 campaign finance report showing a record amount of direct donations to candidates for the midterm election.

From January to March 2022, LPAC made $128,650 in direct contributions to the campaigns of endorsed LGBTQ women. For the cycle as a whole, LPAC has made $150,650 in contributions to endorsees.

“This level of investment, this early in the campaign cycle, is a record for the committee,” said LPAC’s Executive Director Lisa Turner. “These contributions are the centerpiece of a program to increase and protect LGBTQ women’s representation at every level of office. They signal LPAC’s commitment to providing support to endorsed candidates when it matters most – early in the election cycle.”

Whether an endorsee is an incumbent who is building a war chest in advance of competitive general elections, or a first-time candidate competing in a primary election, early money allows LGBTQ women to close fundraising gaps and level the playing field to run competitive campaigns. LPAC is proud to step into this role, provide direct support, and stand up for LGBTQ women running for elective office.

While Q1 may have ended, LPAC’s work to directly invest in the campaigns of LGBTQ women has not. The committee plans to support over 150 LGBTQ women candidates this cycle and will make a record number of strategic investments in targeted campaigns to increase the number of LGBTQ women serving in public office.
