LPAC Announces April 2023 Endorsement Slate

Washington D.C. (April 18, 2023) –  LPAC, the only organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ women to local, state, and federal office is excited to announce our latest slate of 10 endorsees for April 2023.

The endorsement slate includes incumbent federal office holders running in crucial 2024 contests, as well as 2023 state legislative and local candidates. From U.S. Senate to local races, LPAC is honored to support these critical LGBTQ women candidates across the country. 

Sen. Tammy BaldwinU.S. Senate (WI)

  • Sen. Tammy Baldwin is seeking a third-term in the U.S. Senate. A trailblazer and an icon, Tammy was the first openly gay person elected to the U.S. Senate, first open lesbian elected to the U.S. House, and has been an out and proud elected official since 1985.

Rep. Becca Balint, U.S. House of Representatives (VT-AL)

  • Rep. Beccca Balint is running for a second term in the U.S. House. Becca was the first women elected to Congress from Vermont, and the first openly LGBTQ person to represent the state at the federal-level. 

Rep. Angie Craig, U.S. House of Representatives (MN-2)

  • Rep. Angie Craig was first elected to the U.S. House in 2018 and is running for a fourth term. Angie is the first open lesbian mother in Congress. LPAC is proud to have endorsed her in every election.

Rep. Sharice Davids, U.S. House of Representatives (KS-3)

  • Rep. Sharice Davids was elected for the first time in 2018 and is seeking a fourth term in the House. She was one of the first two Native American women ever elected to Congress. LPAC previously endorsed her in 2018, 2020, and 2022.

Sepi Shyne, U.S. House of Representatives (CA-30)

  • Sepi Shyne is running for an open seat in a Los Angeles-area Congressional district. Sepi is the Mayor of West Hollywood and would be the first immigrant LGBTQ woman elected to Congress.

Jade Harris, Virginia State Senate

  • Jade Harris is running for a seat in the Virginia State Senate. Jade previously served as a Town Councilor in Glasgow, Virginia. 

Danica Roem, Virginia State Senate

  • Del. Danica Roem made history in 2017 as the first openly transgender person ever elected to a state legislative seat in history. After three terms in the House of Delegates, she is now seeking a seat in the Virginia State Senate.

Laura Jane Cohen, Virginia State House of Delegates

  • Laura Jane Cohen currently serves on the Fairfax County Board of Education and is running for an open seat in the Virginia House of Delegates. Her election is essential towards ensuring continued LGBTQ women's representation in the chamber.

Sheena Barnes, Toledo School Board (OH)

  • Toledo Board of Education President Sheena Barnes is seeking a second term in office. First elected in 2019, Sheena has been a tireless campaigner for protecting the rights of students. 

Liz Breadon, Boston City Council

  • Liz Breadon is running for a third two-year term on the Boston City Council. Liz was first elected in 2019 and quickly established herself as a champion for her community on the Council.
