About LPAC
LPAC’s mission is to elect LGBTQ women to public office at the federal, state, and local level. Since it was founded in 2012, LPAC has invested millions of dollars in building political strength for and with LGBTQ women.
The 2022 election cycle was LPAC’s most ambitious since the committee was founded. LPAC endorsed and contributed to a record number of LGBTQ women candidates and carried out important research on the civic engagement of LGBTQ women.
Position Summary & Responsibilities
The Political Director is a key member of LPAC’s team. The Political Director leads LPAC’s efforts to elect LGBTQ women and nonbinary candidates to public office. The position can be remote but being based in Washington, DC is desirable.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Leading LPAC’s endorsement program, including sourcing, interviewing, and recommending candidates for endorsement to the PAC Board of Directors.
Maintaining relationships with current and past endorsees, including regular check-ins with campaigns, providing strategic advice, and providing information about LPAC programming.
Growing LPAC’s political program in terms of endorsements and engagement with candidates, elected officials, and stakeholders.
Providing recommendations to Executive Director and Board of Directors regarding contributions to candidates.
Fostering relationships with allied organizations to support mutually endorsed candidates and serve as an advocate on behalf of priority-endorsed candidates.
Creating holistic primary, runoff, and general election day plans for LPAC to highlight and support endorsed candidates.
Working with the Director of Communications to spotlight endorsees and find press opportunities for prioritized candidates.
Working with the Director of Development to ensure LPAC donors and other stakeholders stay aware of important developments in the committee’s political work.
Collaborating with the Executive Director on LPAC’s polling and research projects.
Experience & Qualifications
A passion for LPAC’s mission.
3-4 years of experience in political strategy, experience working on campaigns and for PACs/political organizations is highly desired.
Understanding of the current political landscape.
Ability to work independently and grow an evolving political program.
General knowledge of state and federal campaign finance law is a major plus.
Creative and innovative mindset.
Strong written communication skills.
Time management and organization skills – an ability to coordinate, prioritize, and follow through on multiple projects.
Ability to work after hours and on weekends as required – willingness to work in rapid response situations (particularly when there are elections).
Willingness to work collaboratively on a small team.
Proficient computer skills, experience with NGP VAN a plus.
Compensation: Salary range for the Political Director is $75,000 – $90,000 annually commensurate with experience. LPAC offers benefits including fully paid health/vision/dental insurance and generous paid time off.
