Andrea Jenkins

 
 

Andrea Jenkins is running for re-election to the Minneapolis City Council in the 8th Ward. She currently serves as the President of the Council.

Jenkins was first elected to the Council in 2017, and was the first Black trans person elected to public office in the United States. She was the Council Vice President from 2018-2022. Outside of politics she is a writer, performance artist, poet, and activist.

Her priorities are ensuring racial equity, LGBTQ rights, and reproductive rights. She is also focused on creating access to affordable and low-income housing, and public safety.
