Maren Costa

Maren Costa is running for an open seat on the Seattle City Council in Washington. If elected, she would restore LGBTQ representation to the Council.

Costa moved to Seattle in 1991 and started a nonprofit supporting women and girls. She then entered the tech industry and worked to make Amazon more inclusive and climate-oriented, founding Amazon Employees for Climate Justice. When the pandemic hit, she joined together with Amazon warehouse workers to protest unsafe working conditions and was fired as a result. Costa’s illegal firing was nationally publicized, with nine U.S. Senators signing on to a letter demanding that Jeff Bezos re-hire her.

Costa is focused on public safety, affordable housing, and climate justice. An experienced organizer, Costa has the tools to build an impressive coalition of supporters.
