Sonya Jaquez Lewis

State Rep. Sonya Jaquez Lewis is a Democrat running for election to the Colorado State Senate’s 17th district.

Lewis is currently a member of the Colorado House of Representatives, first elected in 2018. She is a longtime activist, previously serving for a number of years on the Boulder County Board of Health and as a DNC delegate for Colorado. She is a pharmacist and owns a small business that consults on clinical trials.

Her priorities are affordable healthcare, education, workplace safety, and gun and domestic violence. She also is a prominent proponent of protecting residential communities from runaway fracking and oil exploration.
