Ginny Foat

 

 

Ginny Foat ran unsuccessfully for mayor of Palm Springs, CA, in 2015.

Foat spent 13 years serving on the Palm Springs City Council and is a former executive director of the Mizell Senior Center in Palm Desert, CA.

Her involvement in LGBTQ causes and organizations stretches back to the 1970s. She also was active in the campaigns against the Briggs Initiative and Proposition 8, and she previously served as co-chair of the Los Angeles County Commission on HIV/AIDS Services, executive director of Caring for Children and Families with AIDS and as regional director of the YWCA.

Foat worked with the Riverside County Transportation Commission and served as co-chair for the Coachella Valley Association of Governments Transportation Committee.  She has also worked with many different organizations to combat homelessness in the Coachella Valley.

In the 1980s, she was accused – and acquitted – of the murder of an Argentine businessman in New Orleans.
